The Hungária Hotel

The edifice was built in 1907 as a hotel and a restaurant by the hotelier Vilmos Pogáts based on the plans of the Gábory brothers from Brașov. Its outstanding features were the Art Nouveau wrought-iron gate, the niches decorated with moulding next to it and the today dismantled, then graciously ornamented glass roof above it. After December 1918 the building served as the headquarters of the occupying Romanian army. Later, the local military headquarters and draft board, then the police department were located here. It has been a post office from 1942 to the present day (except in the 1980s, when it was taken over by the management of the telephone company).
